Cold afternoon, next to the Lonja . #lamy and #pentelbrushpen on #strathmorepaper
1435 / Smalls jazz club / NYC
Yesterday night at the fantastic Smalls jazz club. Amazing performance of David Schnitter on Sax!
1434 / Chinese writing / Chinatown / NYC
At Chinatown after going to my favorite restaurant, where what I eat its always a surprise, due to the lack of communication. Rarely I get what I wanted to order and I like that!
Then, I sketched my first Chinese letters, although I had no idea what they meant…
The vendors that came to take a peek on the Sketch, could read my letters though and translated what I had written.
1433 / Central Park / NYC (sold)
Again struggling (and suffering) with nature, light, contrasts, colors, rational/organic forms, …useless, they keep on winning me!
1432/ Big Band / Greenwich Village // NYC
This time #thevillagevangard big band was playing and was sitting on different point of view. The dark room forced me to sketch using my phone screen as a lighting source. The odd thing happened when the band stopped the show because someone was recording. I was drawing and didn’t noticed that were pointing at me! When I realized that, I told “I’m drawing”.They didn’t believe, ironically smiling, like saying “are you kidding me?!” I turn
1429 / Meatpacking district / NYC
The Meatpacking district from the High line Park. I love these brick buildings with high windows and huge overhangs, but the main reason I came sketch to the west side, was the Sun warm. I was freezing when finished the sketch though.
1428 / Saarinen’s TWA / NYC
Back to JFK airport! I was so sleepy, I needed a coffee, and breakfast, but when I saw Saarinen’s #TWA I just sat on the first sunny bench and sketched, forgetting the hunger and coffee addiction. Saarinen’s building was commissioned in 1956, to “capture the spirit of flight”. He surely did it!
1418 / United Nations Headquarters / NYC (sold)
Yesterday I had a nice brunch at Greenpoint with some friends that work at the United Nations. After that, I went to Long Island and drew that building. Le Corbu and Niemeyer’s edifice outstands for its proportions and light colors.
1416 / Chevy Camaro / New Jersey / NY
A classic convertible Chevy Camaro I spotted, in a garage, at Monroe Township, New Jersey. Lovely, although with a strange color to paint.
1415 / Autumn at Central Park / NYC
This afternoon at Central Park. It’s the first time I draw it!
A great, almost Summer weather and all this beautiful leaves all around.
