Fallas is a traditional celebration held in commemoration of Saint Joseph, held in March in Valencia.

Each neighbourhood of the city has an organized group of people, the Casal faller or comissió fallera, that works all year long holding fundraising parties and dinners. At the beginning of the year that is a formal presentation of the members of that commission, dressed in the tradicional suit.

This drawing illustrates the presentation of the younger members of the Falla Exposicò.

I couldn’t resist to detail the Louis Vuitton bag in the foreground…

I´ve scanned the previous “instagramed” drawing of the moment when the sculptures of Fallas were being burned!

Some neighborhood associations at Valencia invest all the year to create huge sculptures for their major festivity (Fallas). These temporary monuments tare exposed for a couple of days and burned at the end!

A Mascletà is an an “melodic” explosion, a noisy and huge firework, that is not made to be seen, but to be heard and felt : if you can stand all that power that envolves you !!!! Over the centuries the Valencians developed them into a form of art.

Suddenly, the blue sky gets grey, dotted by yellow, red and sometimes blue and black!
