Biblioteca Angelica – salone Vanviteliano sec. XVIII – Rome

One of the most beautiful libraries I´ve ever seen!

It was established by Angelo Rocca in 1604, and belong to the Augustinian monastery. I´ve read , though not confirmed, that it was the first public library  in Rome. ROMA 10-3-13011_bibli_angelica_r

Sarajevo after the war / old town from the mountains // 1997

sarajevo-vista_r_pThis is an old one, when I visit devastated Sarajevo, not much after the war. From the mountain we could see the city lineal development, since the moslem district until the Austro-Hungarian area and finally, the “Modern” city.

At the bottom the destroyed National and University Library of Bosnia and Herzegovina, destroyed on 1992, by a Serbian shelling. The majority of the books could not be saved from the flames.
